Home Series with Bridget
Bridget Tribe works as a senior brand manager and lives in The Hague. For the first edition of ‘DOUXE Home Series’ we visited her beautiful home with its unique old elements.Â
How important is your home to you? How important is personal space to you?Â
A home is incredibly important to me. I moved from Melbourne, Australia to the Netherlands in 2018 and over the past four years I have lived in the most incredible places, in unique buildings with old-world charm. The place where I now live in The Hague has 15ft ceilings, lots of light and fabric wall drapes. To some it is excessive, but I wake up happy every day and grateful that I get to enjoy this space. It is a sparkle in my life.
What are your requirements when creating and furnishing a bedroom and bathroom?
A calming yet fashionable and personal space. A ‘warm’ and ‘spicy’ space with a personal touch.
How does this compare to choosing hotels when you are away? How does it compare to choosing a hotel?
It is actually quite similar, to be honest. I am sensitive to light and texture - if the hotel is too clean and sterile, it often puts me off. I am a fan of hotels with their own character and a well-considered choice of décor. In general, boutique hotels do not skimp on the quality of the bed linen, and that is the pleasure of staying in a hotel in the first place.Â
How do you create that luxury feeling at home?
I always go for the largest bed that fits in my bedroom. Haha. That is my starting point. I also choose soft, organic colours that create a calming feeling.Â
Tips for others when designing a dream home?
Make use of ambient lighting in the bedroom! A soft glow is all you need in the bedroom; a bright night light can completely disturb your calm.
