Home Series with FrankÂ
Frank van Bennekom works as an independent architect and photographer on various projects for international clients. For the ‘DOUXE Home Series’ we paid a visit to his cosy little home.Â
What is your favourite hotel?
Boutique hotel Mama Ruisa in Rio de Janeiro.
Which aspects make this your favourite hotel?
Here you (almost) imagine yourself in your own exotic modernist dream villa with stunning views and full of the most extraordinary Brazilian art. On the one hand the hotel has every conceivable luxury for relaxing, but also the cosiness, thanks to the lovely staff and the hotel pets.
How do you create that luxury hotel feel in your own bedroom?Â
That luxury feeling is created in my bedroom mainly by its spatial layout and choice of materials, such as velour curtains and floor-to-ceiling ceramic panels.
In addition, a wellness area is increasingly becoming standard at home; my bedroom, for instance, is directly connected to my bathroom with walk-in shower. A good bed with sateen DOUXE bed linen must of course not be missing either.
How can you best describe your style? And how is this reflected in your bedroom?
Clean, but a warm modernist 70s style thanks to, among other things, retro dimmable wall lighting.Â
In addition, my advice is to use no more than 3 different materials, for a peaceful sleeping environment.Â
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Modernist architecture from the 60s/70s.
Do you have a set bedtime ritual?
Not really. Usually I lie down first and then close my eyes ;-)Â
Suppose you get to design/create your dream home, what should not be missing?
 A swimming pool.
