Five-Star Hotel Quality

Bring the luxury of a five-star hotel into your bedroom.

Thanks to the high thread count of 400TC and 100% Egyptian cotton, the fabric has an exceptionally luxurious feel, for a comfortable and refined night's sleep

Durable Bed Linen

Egyptian cotton bed linen is known for its durability and soft, luxurious feel. But did you know that it gets even better with time? The more you use and wash the bedding, the softer and more comfortable it becomes. This is because the long cotton fibres relax more and more and the cotton retains its natural softness. This makes the bed linen not only lovely to sleep in, but also a sustainable long-term investment.

What is Egyptian cotton?

Egyptian cotton differs from other cotton varieties because it has the longest fibre in existence. This makes this unique type of cotton extra strong and super soft. It is the softest cotton available, is of high quality and is long-lasting. Unlike lower-quality cottons, Egyptian cotton only gets better after repeated washing. New Egyptian cotton bed linen may feel a little stiff, but it will become softer and softer over time. Unfortunately, cotton bed linen is often labelled as ‘Egyptian cotton’ when in reality it is not. In fact, research in the US shows that 80% of bedding labelled as 100% Egyptian cotton is actually made from a cotton blend. By looking at the price of duvet covers, you can quickly tell whether they are actually made of Egyptian cotton or not. Duvet covers made of genuine Egyptian cotton are generally more expensive due to their high quality. Fortunately, there is now a certificate of authenticity from the Cotton Egyptian Association.

It is true that percale creases more at first. With use and washing, the fibres become increasingly supple, so it creases less and less. It also helps to pull the bed linen tight and let it air dry. Percale dries quickly, so it does not necessarily need to go in the tumble dryer. Please also follow the washing instructions.

What makes duvet covers hotel quality?

DOUXE has developed a high-quality collection of luxury hotel-quality duvet covers, produced in Portugal. Our bed linen is made of 100% certified Egyptian cotton, woven in sateen or percale, and is of luxurious quality with a high Thread Count (thread density). So you too can experience the five-star feel of a hotel at home!

The most memorable overnight stays are generally those in a luxury hotel. This has to do with relaxation, a feeling of being ‘away’, and the many new impressions you process at night that help you fall into a deep sleep. But of course it also has to do with the quality of the bedding. Five-star hotels spend a lot of time selecting the finest bedding. Think of thickly filled yet lightweight down duvets, down mattress toppers (Featherbeds) and bed linen made of 100% Egyptian percale cotton. And that is no coincidence: the main reason guests prefer one hotel over another is the bed. So the bed had better be fantastic. Every layer of these beds is thicker, softer and more unforgettable. We develop the finest bed products for hotels of this class, and for us hotel quality means the right combination of sleeping comfort, durability and choice of materials. A five-star feeling in your own bedroom, guaranteed!

What size duvet cover do I need?

The size of the duvet cover depends on the size of the duvet. The most common size for a single duvet is 140 cm wide and 220 cm long. For a double duvet, it is 240 cm wide x 220 cm long.

If you need a new duvet with a cover and don't know which size to choose, the size of your mattress is a good starting point.

For mattresses 160 cm or 180 cm wide, a 240 cm wide duvet looks best.

For a 200 cm wide mattress, a 260 cm wide duvet with cover looks best. The length depends on the length of the mattress. A length of 220 cm suits mattresses from 200 cm to 220 cm long.

What size fitted sheet do I need?

First of all, it is good to know that the DOUXE fitted sheet can be used for many types of mattresses and mattress combinations. Our fitted sheets have a corner height of 45 cm and fit all mattresses from 5 to 45 cm deep. Thanks to the strong elastic edge, the fitted sheet is pulled tight under the mattress. This means it fits perfectly around thick mattresses or combinations of mattress and mattress topper, but also around a topper alone. We do always advise adding a protective layer to protect the mattress from dirt. This can be a fitted mattress protector or a flat mattress protector. You then put the fitted sheet over it.

What is the difference between a fitted sheet and a flat sheet?

Hotels often opt for a flat sheet when making up the mattress. A flat sheet is easier to clean and press professionally. For use at home, we recommend a fitted sheet. A fitted sheet has elastic, which makes it easy to fit neatly and tightly. It is very important to choose the right size fitted sheet to prevent it from shifting.

What does Thread Count stand for?

Thread Count is literally the thread density of a fabric and indicates how densely the cotton is woven. A Thread Count of 300TC means a density of 300 threads per square inch. The higher the TC, the finer and higher-quality the bed linen. Our bed linen ranges from 300 TC to 600 TC.
